Cellar & Basement Waterproofing Solutions
Many premises have basement, cellars and vaults that were not designed for modern living.
Damp and flooding problems can often occur due to the build up of external ground water. In some areas the water table is rising year on year . This is due to rising rainfall and less extraction of ground water by industry and also leaking drains and services.. Due to this failure of some existing tanking systems is occurring on a regular basis.
Tanking & Basement leak detection
Bluesky offer a specialised leak and damp detection service for basements, cellars and failed tanking. We offer equipment to CCTV survey and pressure test drainage outlets, carry out salt & water testing, survey using thermal imaging cameras. Bore holes can be dug to locate the depth of the existing water table. We are also able to offer a flood restoration service to remove and repair water damaged areas.
Waterproofing & Tanking Installation
Bluesky are able to offer various systems to transform a damp basement/cellar into a dry habitable living area. We install both cementitious tanking and waterproofing using cavity drain membranes.
Cementitious Tanking
Cementitious tanking is a system of cement based waterproof coating to prevent penetrating damp caused by movement of ground water moving through walls. The tanking coatings can be plastered or boarded over to provide a surface to decorate. This system is used in areas where there is no free flowing water and to resolve an isolated damp problem.
Cavity Drain Membrane System
This system uses a dimpled membrane that allows any ground water to flow to the wall floor joint, where excess water is collected by a perimeter drainage channel. This channel is either routed by gravity or pumped externally by the installation of a automatic sump pump system. A cavity drain would be used where there is water ingress and flooding issues. The membrane is plastered or boarded over to provide a surface to decorate.
